HITMAN

The original video game franchise was a hit, but also spawned a bit of controversy (seriously, though, what video game hasn’t?). Our emotionless anti-hero is an efficient killing machine (who primarily targets bad guys) who does his job without remorse. And he always hits his mark – even if they’re priests or civilians that have witnessed one of his hits. Emotionally, he’s tends to be on the remote side, primarily because he’s a cloned human. Did I mention that he’s bald with a barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck? Still, in the video game, there were hints of humanity beneath his steely facade: he would (rarely) live a survivor / witness, and once, he befriended a sparrow (only to kill it without remorse when it began making noise that could have potentially blown his cover, but that’s a small quibble).

This online slot, powered by Microgaming, touches on the moral issues involved with human cloning, and addresses whether such a product of cloning would be considered human or not – or even more clearly, whether such product of cloning would be capable of human empathy. In the slot game, there are moral ramifications / consequences associated with every kill. The graphics and sound effects are simply beautiful, and this slot game offers up four distinct bonus games.

Sadly, this slot isn’t available at casinos that accept US players, however the next one is, and the great news is that it’s another i-Slot.

REEL CRIME: BANK HEIST

Don’t know what it is, but this one grabbed me immediately. It might be the fact that I won big playing this for the first time. Or it could be that – for whatever reason – I felt a level of suspense playing this i-Slot that I hadn’t felt playing any other slot. Period. Either way, I was hooked thirty seconds into the game.

Let me set it up for you: you’re a criminal fresh out of the big house, and have been recruited to pull off one last bank heist. This game plays out in several different locales (bank, prison, etc) and in the first set piece, you’re at the bank trying to crack open the bank’s vaulted safe in the middle of the night. Turns out a security cop has seen the flash of your flashlight, and is getting closer to you with each spin. You see, every time you spin the reel, you have an opportunity of either getting one step closer to solving the vault’s combination (if you land a specific sequence of symbols) or the security guard on your tail gets one step closer to discovering you (if you don’t land anything). Each of these scenarios have suspense similarly built into gameplay.
